Pinetop Perkins. Born Willie Perkins, in Belzoni, MS, in 1913, Pinetop is one of the last great Mississippi bluesmen still performing. He began playing blues around 1927 and is widely regarded as one of the best blues pianists. Perkins created a style of playing that has influenced three generations of piano players and will continue to be the yardstick by which great blues pianists are measured. His quote reads, “The blues makes me feel pretty good. It always keeps two dollars in my hand. I praise to the Lord all the time, ‘please forgive me for it,’ cause I know nothing else to do.”
Pinetop signed 25 prints before his passing in February of 2011. These are currently priced at $650.
